Since its inception in 1997, ABB Records has worked to establish a standard for musical consistency and artist development. Major labels, in particular, have taken ABB's efforts seriously; several ABB artists have graduated to major record situations as a result of ABB's efforts. What makes ABB different from other indie labels jockeying for attention and notoriety,is the individuality and creative vision of its artists and distributed labels. As a whole, ABB's musical family exemplifies the Company's goal of keeping it simple and basic. We are only as good as the records we make and put out. ABB's first 2 releases, Defari's Bionic/ Change and Switch, and Dilated Peoples' Third Degree/ Confidence/ Global Dynamics, were regarded as instant classics by influential hip-hop DJs (including Stretch and Bobbito, DJ Revolution, the Baka Boyz, DJ Premier, and the Beat Junkies) and true heads alike. Dilated's second maxi-single, Work the Angles/ Main Event/ Triple Optics raised the bar for indie hip-hop and was picked as one of the best 12-inches ever by Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists. North Carolina's Little Brother also made a great first impression on indie hip-hop and looks set to become one of the most important groups to impact hip-hop music in the last 10 years. With a strong and dedicated team in place, ABB continues to blaze new trails. The ABB network now includes ABB Soul, an in house distribution division (ABB Records' RPM) and an e-commerce site(ShopABB.com). |
